COST G9 - Modelling Real Property Transactions - A summary of references



Awareness of the institutional concept was communicated in van der Molen, 2003, who refers to Zevenbergen, 1999.

The ESF/COST research action: Modelling Real Property Transactions (COST G9, 2001-2005; costg9.plan.aau.dk) was theoretically based on the notion of institutions of D C North (1990), cf. Stubkjær, 2003, referring also to Sevatdal, 1999, and Arruñada, 2001.

Outcomes of the research is published in Auzins, 2004; Navratil, Frank, 2004; Gysting, Lavrac, and Stubkjær, all 2005; in the proceedings of the joint COST Action G9 and  FIG Commission 7 workshop on Standardization in the Cadastral Domain, by Oosterom et al, 2005, and in the 'closing book': Zevenbergen et al, 2007

The latter includes methodologies for modelling basic property transactions: conveyance, subdivision, and mortgage, which were further applied in a joint Nordic project: Property formation in the Nordic countries (KMS, 2006, http://www.kms.dk/English/Danish+Cadastre/Property_formation/), in Lisec et al, 2008, and in Vaskovich, 2012.

Moreover, the research explored to institutional economics concept of transaction costs, related it to the UN Systems of National Accounts, and provided an initial assessment of property transaction cost for Denmark (Stubkjær, 2005), for Finland (Vitikainen, 2007), and for selected countries (Lindquist, 2008).
